Turkey Visa Information for Foreigners

Turkey Visa Information for Foreigners

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey launched its Electronic Visa Application System on April 17, 2013. Also called the Turkey e Visa application, this system allows foreign visitors to obtain their visa online from anywhere in the world. It doesn't take more than 3-4 minutes to complete the application requirements. All a traveller needs are the necessary travel documents, a stable internet connection, a payment card for paying the Turkey visa fees, and an active email address.

Turkey e Visa Online:

Foreigners wishing to travel to Turkey for tourism, business, or holiday purposes can apply for the visa at any time 24/7. To apply for the visa, they need to fill out a Turkey visa application form, which will require specific personal and travel-related information. This includes entering your full name, parents' names, date of birth, occupation, expected travel date, passport number and issue/expiry date, contact number, physical address, and email address. After the applicant pays the visa fees using either a debit or a credit card, the visa application processing will immediately start. And can check the eligible country for Turkey visa.

Turkish E-Visa Important Guidelines for Foreigners:

  • The e-Visa is valid only when the purpose of your visit to Turkey is tourism or business. If you want a visa for another purpose like study or work, the application should be submitted to your local Turkish embassy or consulate.
  • Turkey Consulate or Embassy only issues study and work visas.
  • Official passport is a term used for Service, diplomatic, official, and special passports.
  • It is a mandatory requirement that the traveller's passport or other travel document is valid for 6 months from their arrival date in Turkey.
  • All commonly used credit and debit cards, including MasterCard and Visa, are accepted.
  • The visa requirements for truck drivers of a particular nationality may be different from the visa regime implemented for other citizens of that country. Please contact our customer support for more information on this aspect.
  • Foreign visitors intending to shoot a documentary film in Turkey, conduct an archaeological excavation, or research, will require special permission from the Turkish foreign ministry beforehand.
  • Visitors having a valid visa don't need to obtain a residence permit if their stay is no longer than 90 days. On the other hand, visitors who want to live, study, or work in Turkey must get themselves registered at the nearest police department soon after arriving in Turkey regardless of their visa validity.

How to obtain Turkey Work Visa?

If you want to get employed in Turkey, you need to apply to your nearest Turkish diplomatic mission (an embassy or consulate) to obtain a work permit and visa.

The documents required to apply for Turkey visa online and work visa includes a valid passport, a letter from your employer, and a visa application form. There are some documents that your employer will have to submit to the Turkish Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MLSS) within 10 working days after you have submitted the work visa application. The document requirements vary from country to country. Contact us to learn more on all the documents required for obtaining a work permit or visit the MLSS's website.

As soon as you arrive in Turkey on a work visa, you need to get registered at the local police department before starting to work. Every visitor must register with the local police within one month prior to formally beginning the job to obtain the residency permit, which is compulsory.

As per the Law on Foreigners and International Protection's article 7.1b no. 6458, effective from January 2015, all foreign travellers must carry their passport while travelling to Turkey. Also, their passport must stay valid for at least two months beyond their visa or residence permit's duration of stay.

For instance, if your Turkish visa has a 90 days duration of stay, your passport must be valid for an additional 60 days. So, technically your passport should be valid for 150 days from the date of your arrival in Turkey.

Or else, if your visa's maximum duration of stay is 30 days, then your passport must be valid for an additional sixty days, which means it should be valid for 90 days after you arrive in the country.

However, certain nationalities are exempted from this requirement, which includes:

  • Citizens of countries who can enter Turkey with their National ID.
  • Particular nationalities that do not need a passport or other travel documents to enter requirements under the European Agreement on Regulations governing the Movement of Persons between the Member States of the Council of Europe.
  • Diplomatic or official passport holders.
